Buyanja SACCO Reaffirms Commitment to Women’s Empowerment at the Launch of the 2025/26 Western Women League

Buyanja SACCO has today proudly taken part in the official launch of the 2025/26 Western Women League, held on 28th November 2025 at Rwakabengo Sports Club in Rukungiri Municipality. The event, which brought together key stakeholders committed to advancing women’s participation in sports, was also attended by Buyanja SACCO’s Marketing Officer, Mr. Ivan Karuhanga, who represented the institution at the press conference.

The league, spearheaded by Rwakabengo Sports Club, aims to create meaningful opportunities for young women and girls across the Western Region to develop their athletic talents and compete at higher levels. During the launch, several women’s teams from across the region were confirmed for participation, marking a significant step in promoting inclusivity and visibility for female athletes.

Buyanja SACCO’s Sponsorship of Girls in Sports

As part of its ongoing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and empowerment initiatives, Buyanja SACCO is proud to sponsor selected girls from Rwakabengo Sports Club who will be participating in the league. This support is aimed at enabling talented young women to access better training, mentorship, sports kits, and exposure to competitive platforms.

Speaking at the launch, Marketing Officer Mr. Ivan Karuhanga reaffirmed the SACCO’s commitment to uplifting communities beyond financial services:

“At Buyanja SACCO, we believe that empowering girls and young women creates stronger, more resilient communities. Supporting female athletes is part of our promise to open doors of opportunity and encourage them to dream bigger.”

Strengthening Community and Youth Development

Buyanja SACCO’s sponsorship comes at a time when many young sportswomen still face challenges such as limited financial support, inadequate sports facilities, and misconceptions that discourage girls from pursuing sports. By partnering with Rwakabengo Sports Club, the SACCO seeks to break these barriers and inspire a new wave of confident, talented, and ambitious female athletes.

Looking Ahead

The 2025/26 Western Women League is expected to kick off on 29th November 2025 at Kagoshe Playground. Buyanja SACCO remains committed to walking alongside the girls throughout the season, amplifying their achievements and continuously investing in initiatives that uplift women and youth across the region.
