Rukungiri, September 3, 2025 — Buyanja SACCO has successfully concluded a three-day financial training program aimed at equipping members with essential knowledge and skills for better financial management. The training ran from 1st to 3rd September 2025, bringing together participants from six zones across-Rukungiri district.

Training Overview

The sessions were held in Buyanja, Rubanga, Bugangari, Omwirwaniro, Nyabitete, and Rukungiri Municipality, with the final gathering hosted at All Saints Church, for Rukungiri Zone and Kishonga COU for Rubanga Zone. The program attracted a strong turnout from members, community leaders, and well-wishers who were eager to sharpen their financial discipline and learn more about opportunities available through the SACCO.

Key Lessons Shared

Participants were encouraged to:

  • Embrace a savings culture, making small but consistent deposits.
  • Borrow responsibly and use loans productively to grow income.
  • Avoid multiple debts to safeguard financial stability.
  • Provide accurate information during loan applications to strengthen trust with financial institutions.

Guest facilitator Adams Bwisho of Lead Consultancy emphasized three principles for financial success: trusting and thanking God, practicing strict discipline, and focusing on wealth creation and preservation. He also highlighted practical income-generating avenues including agriculture, small business, talent development, and leveraging personal skills.

Leadership Voices

Speaking during the closing session, General Manager Ms.Oliver Nayebare thanked members for their strong participation and reaffirmed the SACCO’s commitment to empowering its community through financial education. She also unveiled innovative loan products tailored to member needs, such as:

  • WASH (Water, Sanitation & Hygiene) loans
  • Biogas and biodigester loans
  • Emergency loans
  • Muzahura Bakyara loans
  • Boda-boda and Tricycle (“Tutuku”) loans

Canon Yosia Twirire, Board Chairperson, praised the training as a key pillar of Buyanja SACCO’s mission, noting that continuous member education ensures sustainability, accountability, and shared prosperity.
